In the United Kingdom, it was estimated that over 16 million men suffered from some level of erectile dysfunction in 2021 – almost half of the male population. While the majority of these cases are caused by physiological factors such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease, this is not always the case.

It has been shown that men who suffer from sexual performance anxiety can have a fear of failing in the bedroom or in their ability to satisfy a partner (i.e. performance anxiety). In many cases, the more one worries about these things, the more likely they are to experience ED. This occurs when the dread of failing becomes so overwhelming that it paralyses you. Oral drugs, such as Viagra, can be a temporary remedy in this instance, but do you want to rely on that forever? So, how else can you handle such ED cases?

Mojo is providing the UK’s first medication-free approach to sexual wellbeing and erectile dysfunction. They’ve normalised and focused on the issue by offering a variety of dedicated therapies and group sessions in a single app, all built on a foundation of science, data, and clinically-proven approaches from psychosexual therapy.

The company has worked with world class ‘sexperts’ – psychologists, urologists, physiotherapists and more – to bring you an easy, natural, life-long solution to your problems. Through audiovisual content, Mojo is normalising sexual issues and connecting men to champion what sex and relationships can really can be.

In this article, we’ll review Mojo‘s services, programs, and membership details in depth, so you can decide if you want to try out their approach to addressing sexual issues and erectile dysfunction.

What is Erectile Dysfunction?

Source: Mojo

Erectile Dysfunction (impotence) is the inability to obtain and maintain an erection for intercourse. Having occasional erection problems isn’t generally a cause for concern, but if you experience it regularly, it can lead to stress, impact your self-confidence, and contribute to relationship troubles. Psychological and physiological problems, trauma, depression, anxiety, and stress are all leading causes of erectile dysfunction. Aside from these factors, certain lifestyle choices can also contribute to erectile dysfunction including drinking, smoking, recreational drug abuse, leading a generally unhealthy lifestyle, and so on.

In addition, hormones and emotions are at work, which can be both due to natural imbalances or purposeful hormonal changes. Increased prolactin (a pituitary gland hormone), steroid abuse, too much or too little thyroid hormone, and sometimes insufficient testosterone (Low T Syndrome) are all examples.

How do you treat Erectile Dysfunction?

There are many various ways to treat ED, but the most common methods are:

Oral meds for Erectile Dysfunction:

The most commonly known oral medications for ED are Sildenafil, Tadalafil, Viagra, and Cialis. These medications are known as phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitors and work by increasing blood flow to the penis during stimulation, improving your ability to obtain and maintain an erection. Hims UKRoman, and Numan are all telehealth platforms making it easier to acquire these pills – a different approach than Mojo’s, as treatment is not one-size-fits-all!

Check out our Hims reviewRoman review, and Numan review for more information on the medication and prescription route to improving sexual health.

TRT therapy for Erectile Dysfunction:

When you have low testosterone (low T), your sexual drive may suffer, sometimes resulting in the development of ED. We know erections are dependent on testosterone, the male sex hormone, but their relationship is complex and not entirely understood. There are even some cases of men with substantially low testosterone levels that can still maintain healthy erections.

What we do know, however, is that low testosterone levels are clearly connected to a number of the same chronic illnesses that contribute to erectile dysfunction, such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.

Some men with low T do not respond to the medications mentioned previously, unless they also undertake Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). TRT can help protect against some of the risk factors for ED in men with low testosterone by reducing belly fat, enhancing insulin sensitivity, and lowering the risk of diabetes.

We should note here that it is always a good idea to consult your doctor before going for TRT for ED. To get more info on TRT as a treatment in general, check out our review of the best TRT online

So, does sex therapy for ED work?

Among all erectile dysfunction cases, 10-20% of them are due to psychological reasons, although the numbers tend to be higher among younger men (less than 45) who have ED, and this can be more difficult to identify, diagnose, and cure. Anxiety, stress, despair, guilt, low self-esteem, and indifference are the most common psychological causes of ED.

When the most significant factors behind erectile dysfunction are psychological, even pills are not effective. For instance, Viagra, probably the most widely known treatment, only works when sexually aroused, which can be hard to achieve when also experiencing anxiety or stress. Not only that, but some men may prefer a non-invasive means of approaching their ED depending on their preferences.

Therapy is an effective technique to address any feelings of guilt, shame, worry, or inadequacy that may be an underlying cause of your erectile dysfunction. Working through your psychological concerns or relationship troubles with a mental health specialist could help you eliminate any negative affects that those issues have on your sexual performance.

Several studies have demonstrated that sex therapy can improve sexual performance concerns, including erectile dysfunction. One of these tracked 36 couples who participated in sex therapy to treat the male partner’s ED, and researchers discovered that 69.4% of the couples that participated had a favourable outcome.

Another study looked at the impact of cognitive behavioural sex therapy on young men with nonorganic erectile dysfunction (NOED), a variation of ED associated with psychological disorders including anxiety and depression. Over the course of the study, the researchers discovered that cognitive behavioural sex therapy improved erection levels and reduced the severity of ED.

There is no doubt that sex therapy is effective in the treatment of ED, and Mojo is blazing the trail to offer such services to men – and in an incredibly accessible format at that. Let’s see what they have to offer.

Mojo.so review for ED treatment

What is Mojo?

Source: Mojo

In recent years, a slew of sexual health startups such as NumanHims, and Roman have sprung up, giving men discreet assistance with the uncomfortable issue of erectile dysfunction. However, assistance in this case usually refers to making it easier to obtain medications such as Viagra.

Mojo is taking a different approach with medication-free treatment to erectile dysfunction and other sexual enhancements. Mojo is educating us that the struggle to get it up is not as black and white as we might believe, and there is no one single method to treat it. There are numerous reasons for ED, each of which is shaped by a multitude of events in a man’s life. And there is certainly a significant dearth of awareness about it.

The black hole of web-MD self diagnosing could lead you to believe that your ED problem is caused by diabetes or cardiovascular diseases, and while sometimes true, this is not always the case. Erection problems can have a lot to do with psychological barriers, such as stress-induced anxiety, a fear of failure, or depression. These conditions prevent the brain from delivering signals to the penis that would allow more blood to flow and get an erection. Your body then swings into full-fledged fight-or-flight mode, resulting in the physical problem, your inability to get an erection. It’s pretty obvious here, then, that a lifetime of pills might not be the remedy for all ED.

Mojo is on a mission to help guys with ED find approaches beyond medication – reliably, conveniently, discreetly, and confidentially. It’s fully tailored to you and controlled by you. Most importantly, it is both built and reinforced by professionals who have seen this situation numerous times. Mojo has collaborated with psychologists, urologists, physiotherapists, and others to bring you a simple, safe, natural, and long-term answer to your issues.

Mojo.so non-pill treatment: How does that treat ED?

Mojo is focused on providing a viable alternative to drugs and pharmacy pills. They’ve been delivering on their promise by teaming with expert psychosexual therapists (‘sexperts’) to provide online courses that are described as ‘offering a longer-term answer to male sexual health concerns, rather than simply swallowing some pills’. The main objective here is to divert your attention away from the erection, redirect it, and assist you in developing a more positive attitude toward sex.

Mojo’s support platform is geared toward a range of issues that can affect the sexual well-being of men, with digital programmes geared not only toward erectile dysfunction but other sexual problems such as confidence in bed, enjoying intimacy, porn addiction, or anxiety in general.

What does a Mojo membership include?

Mojo packages up expert support to help you overcome your problems in the bedroom through video courses, recommended exercises, therapy podcasts, meditations and connection with experts, community and live events.

Mojo‘s expert-led video courses, podcasts, and meditations provide content that will help you and your partner understand how to deal with common sex issues, in addition to care for your body and mind to live a better, healthier sex life. Mojo experts prioritise ideas and thoughts because they believe that feelings and bodily sensations are related. Specialists work towards getting you out of your head during sex by helping you understand how specific triggers work and how they can stimulate feelings, ideas, sensations, and behaviours.

Mojo’s clinically-validated exercises for ED:

As we know now, taking medication isn’t always the best way to overcome ED and restore your sexual life. Believe it or not, there are exercises that you can perform to strengthen the muscles that surround and support the genital area, which help the penis achieve and sustain an erection.

Mojo gives you access to expert-recommended and clinically tested ED workouts. These workouts are not only safe and effective, but they are also preferable to the potential side effects of using medications like Viagra.

A great example and place to start is simple pelvic floor exercises. Mojo walks you through the steps, and has options for others such as soft penis pleasuring, mindful masturbation alone and with a partner, and pulsing for strength.

A study conducted by the University of the West in the United Kingdom discovered that pelvic exercises helped 40% of men with ED regain normal erectile function, and another 33.5% in significantly improving penile function.

Mojo’s community support and mindfulness group sessions for ED:

Mojo’s digital support package also includes live events and the opportunity to engage directly with Mojo‘s panel of sexual health specialists, as well as the app’s larger community of men. Because other users are likely to be facing similar challenges, a dedicated community can minimise the shame that men may have about addressing intimate health issues.

Mojo also provides group sessions conducted over the internet for the convenience of men who may not feel comfortable meeting in person. The sessions assist you in developing a comprehensive and shared understanding of ED and how normal this condition actually is. After visiting the website and attending a few sessions, you’ll notice how many others are going through the same thing as you that want to obtain expert advice.

Most people are simply concerned with the quickest and easiest way to achieve erectile dysfunction remission. Although drugs such as sildenafil and tadalafil can help with erections, they are not intended to cure anxiety or uneasiness before, during or after sex. If you believe a psychological problem causes your ED, participating in group sessions may help you identify and address the underlying issue rather than simply using medication to improve your performance.

Group sessions may also aid in the eradication of negative predictions, distorted beliefs, and unrealistic expectations about your partner’s needs. One way to view these sessions is as a type of talk therapy that addresses specific issues, such as psychological, sexual, and emotional issues. All of these things could be unwittingly affecting your erection. With the help of this programme, you will have the opportunity to talk and relate with other men in a more controlled manner.

These discussion sessions are not just a free-for-all, but are structured by experts to be used in combination with several other forms of therapy, if required. The entire approach entails thoroughly investigating and discussing your relationship in order to discover the troublesome primary areas. Having open dialogues about your sexual life is a valuable experience that could also eventually help you communicate more effectively with your partner.
