In this post, we’ll compare the specs and stats of two industry-leading smart home gyms, ProForm Vue and Tempo Studio, to help you determine which one is right for you.

Connected, or smart, exercise machines for your home have been one of the most exciting technologies to hit the fitness market in recent years. You get to work out in the privacy of your home while, at the same time, being fun, engaging, and interactive; what more could you want?

Even though they existed before 2020, the popularity of smart home gyms has skyrocketed amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Who would have expected that shutting fitness fanatics out of the gym would result in so much innovation? 😜 The list of smart home fitness equipment is growing, from bikes and treadmills to rowing machines and smart mirrors.

The problem is that there are so many different home gym alternatives on the market nowadays that it can be difficult to know which to choose. There are numerous features, benefits, and drawbacks to consider before deciding, mainly because this is not a little investment.

In this review, we’ll compare two emerging leaders in the home training industry: ProForm Vue vs Tempo Studio. Our goal is to provide you with a good understanding of which can best assist you in meeting your fitness needs.

As you can see, both the Tempo Studio and the ProForm Vue at their core:

  • Are smart exercise studios that have weights and programs developed across multiple modalities to provide a diverse range of movement types.
  • Have subscriptions that allow you to choose from various training techniques, skill levels, and durations are available.
  • Allows you to store equipment discreetly and neatly to maintain your workout space clutter-free.

Now that we’ve examined the two in broad strokes let’s dig into what distinguishes them. Tempo also recently came out with a less expensive Tempo Move, which we’ve compared more in-depth to the Studio.

Whose workout technology is better, ProForm Vue or Tempo Studio?

Source: ProForm Vue

ProForm Vue is a fitness mirror that lets consumers bring the whole training experience into their own homes. The virtual workouts are viewed on a 22″ vertical touchscreen that looks like a reflective mirror when not in use while also allowing you to see your reflection when working out to guarantee proper form and technique. Furthermore, ProForm added handy storage on the back of the mirror to neatly conceal and store your weights when not in use. The mirror itself is mounted on a sturdy base stand, allowing it to stand stably without needing to be linked to or balanced against a wall, making it ideal for renters who can’t hang anything up.

The iFit subscription gives you access to a virtual training platform where you can stream on-demand workouts at any time of day — ideal for early risers, late nighters, and everyone in between. You can also subscribe to the app without owning any equipment. This fitness software, like many others, has a wide range of routines to pick from, allowing users to obtain a tailored workout conducted by experienced trainers from the comfort of their own homes.

ProForm Vue features two 3″ speakers integrated into the front of the studio so you can tune out the rest of the world while working out. You’ll have no trouble hearing your teacher and listening to music simultaneously. If you need to keep things quiet, you may pair it with Bluetooth-compatible headphones and go into the zone without disturbing anybody else in your house.

In technology, the Tempo Studio outshines the ProForm Vue by a country mile. Tempo is an all-in-one home studio powered by artificial intelligence. It was the first of its type and continues to be the market leader in customized home workouts. Because the Tempo screen is permanently tied to the stand, it cannot be converted to be affixed to a wall or stand-alone, so make sure you have enough space for the entire device.

The studio itself is sleek and tiny, and it can easily fit into almost any room in your house. There are two color options: white and slate grey. If you want to enjoy personal training from the comfort of your own home, this studio is as close as you can get. With a 42″ HD touchscreen, you’ll feel as if your trainer is right in front of you.

Whatever style of workout you pick, Tempo’s AI technology will be there to ensure that you’re working out to your greatest potential and with the best form possible. Tempo’s sensors will track your movements and detect any form errors that need to be addressed to avoid injury. You’ll be notified on the screen and given a form cue correction to correct the situation. After you’ve been corrected, you’ll be given the go-ahead to resume your workout.

Aside from the industry-leading form correction technology, the same technology tracks your reps for you, so you don’t have to. No more missing reps or losing track of where you are in your workout. The best thing is that Tempo tracks your progress from one workout to the next, allowing you to gradually increase the intensity of your workouts as you grow in your fitness quest.

The device monitors both the individual’s heart rate and the weights they are lifting. It also offers a fitness assessment exam to new users, the results of which may impact which workout regimens are recommended by the machine. Throughout the workout, you’ll be able to see where you stand on the scoreboard and monitor your heart rate. Your position on the scoreboard is determined by your workout volume, which includes both weight and reps.

Which has better workouts, ProForm Vue vs Tempo Studio?

One of the most appealing aspects of the ProForm Vue is the inclusive iFit subscription that comes with the mirror.

When it comes to iFit programming for the ProForm Vue, you can expect routines ranging from strength training and HIIT to yoga and stretching. Overall, iFit sessions are dynamic, enjoyable, and conducted by professional trainers who know how to keep you involved throughout the workout.

With iFit, you can even tell your trainer about your eating and exercising habits so that it can design a personalized plan based on your calorie intake and daily energy expenditure. They will provide you with simple recipes and video tutorials to get you started preparing tasty and healthy meals as soon as possible.

The majority of the workouts in your Tempo subscription are based on strength training, which means you’ll be working your muscles with the resistance of the studio’s weights. Some classes differ in length, body part, fitness level, and other factors. You have the choice of selecting the ideal workout for your needs on any given day.

Tempo’s “My Plan” function gives users daily recommended workouts throughout the week based on their specific training goals. They also feature a variety of week-long plans focused on certain goals, so if you want to concentrate on your tummy, legs, or other areas, there is a plan for you.

Tempo sessions can now be streamed on phones and tablets, allowing you to perform many of the exercises while on the go! Many of the aerobic, bodyweight workouts, and yoga exercises, in particular, are great for you to practice while on vacation or traveling.

ProForm Vue vs Tempo Studio: Which offers the best bang for your buck?

When making a purchase, one of the first things you look at is the price. And in this case, it’s not as simple as selecting the cheapest smart gym. You’ll need to carefully look at the features and specs to see if the pricing is reasonable.

Source: ProForm Vue

The ProForm Vue is priced at $1499 including shipping, but it is also available on finance with payments starting at $39 per month. With the ProForm Vue, you’ll also receive a 1-year free iFit membership (worth $39 otherwise), which will automatically resubscribe when your free membership expires.

It does not include a workout mat, a heart rate monitor, or heavier weights. So, if you want these, which you almost certainly will, you’ll have to buy them separately.

The Tempo machine costs $1995 and touts this as having all the basics you need to kick off your personalized, at-home fitness journey. The Tempo may be purchased via their financing arrangement for $69 per month with no down payment. The Tempo’s pricing does not include the membership charge, which is an extra $39 per month. The cost of delivery is also not included in the Tempo’s initial purchase price and will cost you an additional $250.

Tempo offers two more bundles in addition to the basic package if you require additional equipment. The Tempo Plus costs $3,245 and features extra weights for increased strength and cardio training. Tempo’s top-of-the-line package, Tempo Pro, costs $3,995 and includes the whole gym experience with all of Tempo’s weights and accessories. Another option is Tempo’s new Tempo Move, which has less included, but offers a much lower price point. We review the two in-depth on our website if you’re interested in learning more!

Which offers a more comprehensive home gym?

The system weighs a total of 30 pounds with the ProForm Vue. Included is one 10lb barbell, two 5lb dumbbell plates, and four 2.5lb weight plates.

The Tempo Studio shines when it comes to accessories.

Reviews: What are customers saying about ProForm Vue vs Tempo Studio?

Customer feedback for Tempo Studio has been equally positive, their website features countless 5 star reviews. The majority of the reviews laud the quality of the instructors and the equipment, implying that the Tempo Studio is equivalent to having your own personal trainer at any time and in the comfort of your own home. They also remark how engaging the instructors make the classes and how the competition element keeps them going.

The Verdict: Proform Vue vs Tempo Studio – Which is better?

A home gym is obviously an investment, but it is a worthwhile one – especially if you want the perks and benefits of a fitness center without the high membership fees and other frills that aren’t necessary for you and your fitness objectives.

Both the ProForm Vue and the Tempo are excellent home gyms. They both offer accessories for effective workouts and a clear viewing screen that may conceal equipment when not in use.

The Tempo is $500 more expensive than the ProForm Vue, but it’s worth every penny in our opinion. The Tempo not only offers remarkable adaptability in exercises, but it also delivers critical feedback on your form as you work out, which the ProForm does not.

While the ProForm Vue does offer a set of weights, they are really light and would be better suited to novices or people who are not overly muscular. Tempo will be well worth the extra money for individuals who desire to make strength training the cornerstone of their fitness routine. The Tempo has a wider variety of weights, which might be utilised for lightweight or heavy training.

The one area where the ProForm Vue outperforms Tempo is the inclusion of free membership, albeit just a one-year subscription, in the pricing of the mirror. Furthermore, many customers are already familiar with and like iFit programming and the diverse fitness options made available through their subscription. If you are familiar with and enjoy iFit and its trainers, you may be more inclined to choose Vue.

Personally, we’ve reviewed a lot of home gyms and Tempo is our favorite if you can afford it. We recommend the Tempo because of its diverse versatility, excellent free accessories, and AI technology included in the pricing.
