Just about every year, the New York Philharmonic presents a concert staging of a musical. Recent productions have included Company and Carousel. This year’s production was Sweeney Todd starring Bryn Terfel as Sweeney and Emma Thompson as Lovett. I’m looking forward the production being shown on a future episode of Live from Lincoln Center. I can add this to my DVR collection.
I lucked out with a prime seat. Sitting directly behind me was Stephen Sondheim. In the row in front of me was Emma Thompson’s family, including husband and English actor, Greg Wise.
